Emily-Jade ~ Radio, Theatre & Television Radio Theatre Television

Biography

Emily-Jade as a babyBorn into a theatrical family Emily was merely carrying on the family tradition. Her mum sang and played guitar and piano, her father sang badly but performed brilliantly in a myriad of musicals. Her fathers father was an award winning actor and her mothers father a talented musician, in fact at 86 he still plays the retirement village circuit.

The only girl and the eldest of 4 boisterous brothers she started performing from a young age to vie for everyone's attention. Piano at age five, dancing and gymnastics from age seven, musicals and singing from age eight. Public speaking then became a hobby, even winning numerous eisteddfods and awards.

In Year 11 she helped run a radio station at Don College, broadcasting every lunch hour from the school PA. At Uni the radio love affair as she continued working for three years at a community radio station whilst juggling two jobs and studying at the same time!

At University she studied acting and media and even found time to appear at children's birthday parties and Sunday school as "Jazz the Clown". This led to founding her own Children's theatre company "Stage fright" to share knowledge, have fun and earn a buck!

After University came commercial Radio, finally being paid (pitifully) for her efforts, stints on Television as the weather girl for Southern Cross TV and surprisingly winning Miss Launceston Cup.

In 1999 she was the 1st voice on the brand new Sea FM in Tasmania, then in 2000 was the 1st voice on CFM Toowoomba. Both shot to number one in their target market. In 2003 she launched yet another radio station - 102.9 Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast. In 2005 she did it again and was one of the 1st voices on Nova 106.9 Brisbane, making her the only radio chick in OZ who has helped give birth to four baby radio stations. It became a bit of a hobby. Now Emily hops out of bed bright and early at 3am to jump into 'The Cage" on 104.5 Triple MMM Brisbane.

In 2002 she scored the hosting gig of a national children's quiz show, Download for Channel 9 Nationally. Since then she has hosted Brisbane Extra, been a regular commentator for Mornings with Kerri-Anne, filed stories for the NRL Footy Show and appeared on Channel 9's 20-1. Last year she started Blogging for the couriermail.com.au as Emily Everywhere, which now boasts 70, 000 hits per blog and also writes for the Sunday Mail for the back page of the Event lift out.

On top of that she happily MC's events around town. From hosting the John Eales Medal, to the Legacy Bachelor Auction, to the NRL's Sexist men in League Finals, no event is too big or small. She is also a Vodafone Ambassador, and the face of www.feelinggood.com.au a government website encouraging young women to quit smoking.

Adding another string to her bow-this year she was appointed a Marriage Celebrant. Why? Apart from Loving Love - Emily was asked one too many times if she would marry friends and family so she decided to do something about it and now is happy to marry anyone anytime and not just those close to her.

Emily lives in Brisbane with her husband Gerard and dog Libby and in general just loves life.
